Updating via the User-Interface at the Portal
Step 1: Prepare Your Update File
Purpose: Update records based on a unique identifier.
Include:
The columns you want to update
A unique identifier, which should be either:
A dedupe column (which will process all matching dedupe records), or
A combination of purl + _id (_id is a unique record ID), which will match only one record.
Ensure:
The file is in a standard format (.csv, .txt, etc.)
The correct file delimiter is used (comma, tab, pipe, etc.)
Step 2: Start a New Update
Go to Data Services → Tags / Updates
Click NEW UPDATE
Step 3: Fill in the GENERAL Tab
Upload the file
Select the appropriate file delimiter
Leave Import Names blank unless specifically required
Select the fields you want to update
Step 4: Submit the Update
Review all details and click SUBMIT to begin processing.
Once processed, verify updates in the Search and Analyze section.
Updating using Files via SFTP
Step 1: Prepare Your Update File
Purpose: Update records based on a unique identifier.

The columns you want to update
A unique identifier, which should be either:

A combination of purl + _id (_id is a unique record ID), which will match only one record.
Ensure:
The file is in a standard format (.csv, .txt, etc.)
The correct file delimiter is used
Drop the file to the designated SFTP location
Step 2: Start a New Update
Go to Data Services → Tags / Updates
Click NEW UPDATE
Step 3: Configure SFTP (Skip PGP)
Go to the SFTP & PGP tab
Enter the SFTP details:
Host
Port (usually 22)
Folder (directory path)
Username and Password
PGP is not required.
Note: Max 2 active SFTP updates per account. Delete one if needed.
Step 4: Fill in the GENERAL Tab
Select the fields to update
Ensure at least one file is imported beforehand
Select the appropriate delimiter
Leave Import Names blank unless required
? Step 5: Submit the Update
Click SUBMIT to begin processing.
Quick Reference
The file will be picked up and processed within a few minutes. Once processed:
An entry will appear in the Tags / Updates section
The SFTP filename will be prefixed with done_ to indicate success
You can verify the update in Search and Analyze
